1st Annual Civil War Days

White Hall, Illinois Reservoir

(Located just east of White Hall off Hwy. 67)

May 7-8, 2005

Come join us for a weekend that you will allow you to take home some memories from White Hall, Illinois!

Take a step back in time with us and our Civil War reenactors that will not only come from throughout the great State of Illinois, but also Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Arkansas, and quite possibly from Nebraska.  These reenactors work very hard to portray the era, so please, come watch and let them know how much we appreciate their hard work.

Reenactors/Sutlers:  Contact Don M. or Christine A. Pence for pre-registration forms @ (217) 374-9947.

Our event will start off on Saturday morning with the park opening at 9:00 a.m.  Admission prices are: $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 3-10, and 2 and under free.  The camps will be open and there will be period games, activities, and military/period demonstrations throughout the day, as well as “The Battle of Shiloh” at 2:00 p.m.  Make sure you keep your eyes open for a glimpse of “President and Mrs. Lincoln”.  There will be food vendors and sutlers open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Our sutlers will be traveling from Kentucky, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana.  Please be sure to patronize them as well.  Why not stick around for a wonderful dinner starting at 5:00 p.m.  The Saturday evening meal will be complimentary to reenactors and sutlers, but the spectators may join us for a reasonable price.  Saturday’s last event will consist of the Grand Ball beginning at 7:00 p.m. and commencing at 10:00 p.m.

Even if you join us on Saturday, come back again on Sunday, where there will be much more to offer.  We will hold church services from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  Camps, sutlers and food vendors will open at 10:00 a.m.  After church, we will hold a memorial service for Edward L. Hager, White Hall’s own “Little Drummer Boy of Shiloh” and the other local soldiers that were either wounded or killed in action at the Battle of Shiloh.  Our Sunday battle will be held at 1:30 p.m. with the wrap-up and farewell at 3:00 p.m.
